HOW TO LEARN PORTUGUESE
The best way to learn Brazilian Portuguese (or any language) is to expand your vocabulary by gradually memorizing lists of related words. This technique will help orient your mind to making connections between words in a certain category or taxonomy, which will facilitate your retrieval of the newly learned words later on when you need them.
So, how do you say the names of the places where you are going in Portuguese? Here are some words for different kinds of shops and stores in Brazilian Portuguese (and I’ve also provided some links for some of my other vocabulary lists related to the places below). Luckily, you will see that many of these words are English cognates. For example, banco (bank), farmácia (pharmacy), and restaurante (restaurant). The only false cognate would be o academia, which is the Portuguese word for gym.
